FAQ

Most frequent questions and answers

Is there a rule book available?

No, each event has its own rules and regulations.  Click on the event you would like to attend for the rules and regulations regarding that event.

Do you have to be a member of ARHFA to enter the events?

No.  ARHFA currently does not make its exhibitors or owners be a member of ARHFA.  The only event we require our riders to be a member is the World Championship event.  Each rider must be a current member of the NRCHA to enter the World championship event.

Where can I find information on the ARHFA events?

All information is posted on our website at www.americanropehorse.com, Facebook – American Rope Horse Futurity page and ARHFA Events group page, and Instagram – American Rope Horse.

How are the events ran?

There are two judges that score each horse starting with a 70 score from 0 to 5 or -1 to -5 per maneuver designated on the score sheets.  The time is also part of the score.  ARHFA takes 80 points minus the time on the run.  Example: 80 – 5.0 (time on run) = 75points that get added to the two judges scores to get a total composite score on the run.  You can find the heading and heeling scribe sheets on the website under, “Learn”.   All scores are cumulative throughout the go rounds.  We take the top 10 to 20 cumulative high scores to the short go.  The scores remain cumulative in the short go, and the order of go will be ordered from lowest to highest scores.

What is the horse eligibility age for Futurity classes?

3-, 4-, 5-, or 6-year olds can enter the Open Futurity classes.
